“But you’re a vegetarian; how can you eat the Body of Christ?”
That’s one sort of question that gets asked. The ones that give us a laugh but then lead to interesting and enlightening discussion.
“Do you dance naked across the Moors?”
That’s another type of question. The ones that call for patience.
“What is Sheffield Interfaith’s policy on gay marriage/immigration…
Those are the questions that we find it hard to answer, either as adherents of a particular faith or philosophical path, as members of a specific congregation or even as individuals.
Perhaps we can discuss, debate and respond to such problems more effectively as a collective. Sheffield Interfaith is an organisation for “people of all faiths and none” to come together. Not just to tackle the big problems in society but, more importantly, to share, enjoy and learn from our similarities and differences. But we want to be more than a “talking shop” ~ we need to be DOING.
There are many ways to translate our learning and our shared commitment into action. (See our history and events pages). Maybe you think that Sheffield Interfaith could be doing more/better/other things. What we want to know is:
What do YOU think?
What are the issues that you want to debate?
What multi-faith or inter-cultural activities would you like to see happening in your community?
