Venue: Hallam Community Hall, Hallam Grange Crescent, Sheffield, S10 4BD
As we anticipate the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan, the Dialogue Society warmly invites you to our Ramadan Dialogue Iftar, themed “Peace and Unity”. In times where societal divisions seem prevalent, our iftar stands as a beacon of mutual respect, understanding, and shared humanity. This year, we are inspired by the essence of Ramadan—a period of introspection, community, and breaking barriers—to highlight our collective journey towards a more harmonious society.
Our Iftar goes beyond just nourishing the body; it’s an opportunity to enrich the heart and mind. You will engage in valuable conversations with a diverse group of individuals, each bringing unique insights on how to cultivate peace and unity in our communities. Through these discussions, we aim to dispel misconceptions, forge enduring bonds, and collaboratively envision a more unified and inclusive future for all.
As we gather to break our fast, let’s also dismantle the barriers that separate us, creating a mosaic of different cultures, faiths, and ideas into a cohesive, vibrant community. Join us in celebrating unity and peace, embracing the spirit of Ramadan, and moving forward together, fortified by our shared values and aspirations.
The event will be around a dinner table and alongside our traditional structure as it will include distinguished guest speakers and presentations about the theme, we are also planning on incorporating prayer, reflection, music, art display, quiz as it is organized as a social event that would help to promote inter-social and inter-cultural understanding among the communities from different backgrounds.
We will serve a range of hygienically prepared home-made delicious Turkish dishes. The word “iftar” means fast breaking. Therefore, we will start serving the dinner at the fast-breaking time which will be around 6:30pm.
How about a challenge? We invite you to join us on the event day for a completely voluntary “Fasting Challenge”. In order to share the spirit of fast breaking amongst all the participants, as part of the fasting challenge, we invite our guests to fast for a day, or half a day or even for an hour to experience how Muslims fast and go on a spiritual journey of self-reflection and self-discipline this Ramadan. As mentioned above, this will be on a voluntary basis. More importantly, if you think that this may not be good for your health, please refrain from joining this challenge.
Thank you for considering our invitation; we are genuinely excited about the possibility of your participation. We are looking forward to your response. Due to limited venue space, we politely encourage you to reserve your place.
